Will
They Deliver Your
Plasma
TV Safely?
•
Shipping
a Plasma TV to your home is the only sensible way to get it there;
it’s too big, expensive, heavy and delicate to be shoved in
the trunk or back seat of a car. Specialized Transport companies
have evolved to handle the job, and most of them do it
well.
•
Your
retailer has a relationship with these shippers; they’ll
arrange for a transport company to bring your Plasma TV to your
door, or even to your living room.

you expect when the transport company shows up at your doorstep
with your Plasma TV?
Eight
Vital Facts About
Shipping
Your Plasma TV
•
Shipping Times will vary: you should
expect 4-5 business days for your television to be delivered,
although a two week wait is not unheard
of.
•
Screens Measuring 50 Inches and larger require
special handling due to their large size and delicate nature.
Expect a wait of 5-10 business days for these larger units to be
delivered.
•
With Internet Orders you can track your
shipment once your TV leaves the retailer. You may receive an
e-mail containing your tracking number and contact information or
you may be able to access this information on your retailer’s
website. Contact the freight carrier to track the progress of your
delivery.
• Curbside Delivery is your cheapest
option; it should be fully covered by shipping insurance. The
shipper will deliver your Plasma the curb outside your house after
arranging for you to be there to receive it. Make sure you have two
or three strong friends there to help carry it inside (see
Delivering Your
Plasma).
• Inside Delivery is more costly, and
it should be fully insured by shipping insurance. It normally
includes ground level delivery inside your front door or garage
during normal business hours. You will still need three strong
friends to help you with setup.
•
Installation is not included; your retailer will be
glad to hook you up with a professional installer for an additional
fee. You and a few friends should be able to handle a table mount
without professional help. A wall mount is more complex; we suggest
professional installation (see
Installing Your
Plasma).
• Do Not Sign for
your delivery or let the delivery persons leave until you have the
Plasma TV inside your living room and have carefully unpacked and
inspected it for damage (see Installing Your
Plasma).
Refuse any shipment where the Plasma screen or TV is cracked or
damaged.
•
Your Retailer should have a clearly
spelled out return policy, it should allow you to return a damaged
unit within 30 days of purchase. Hold on to all receipts, packaging
and manuals in case you have to return the TV. Contact your
retailer for a RA number (return authorization) and to arrange for
shipping pickup.
