How To
Pick A Great
Plasma
TV Stand!
• Stands
designed to hold a Plasma TV come in hundreds of styles and shapes;
the first thing you’ll need to decide is which style is best
for your color scheme and decor.
•
There
are gorgeous wood designs in cherry or oak, and fancy chrome and
glass designs that would fit right in on the bridge of the Starship
Enterprise!
•
But
there are a few things you need to consider before you make your
purchase . . .
Top 7
Tips For Picking
The
Best TV Stand!
• What Style of TV Stand would fit best in
your living room? Would your taste run to the traditional, modern
or futuristic? What style would best complement your decor? A TV
stand takes up more room than a wall mounted Plasma, where in the
room will it fit?
•
The Most Common Materials for TV stands are
wood, chromed metal and glass. Which would best complement your
color scheme or set off your couch and drapes? I tend to love the
chrome and glass look, but you may prefer a more traditional feel.
What stand would look best with the model of Plasma TV you’re
buying?
•
The Weight Capacity of
your new TV stand is vital! Some Plasmas
weigh 160 lbs.; you certainly don’t want to buy a stand
designed to hold a 90 lb. television! Read the description of the
stand before you order and find the weight capacity it’s
rated to hold. Learn the weight of the TV before you order. A weak
stand can collapse under your expensive new TV, perhaps dropping it
on top of someone you love.
•
If Your New Stand Contains Glass, it’s crucial
that you make sure the glass is tempered . Accidents can happen; if
one does, tempered safety glass is much stronger than regular glass
and can withstand stronger blows and greater weight. In a worst
case scenario, safety glass shatters into harmless cubes instead of
razor sharp shards.
•
Always Measure the Length of Your TV Base, because
size
matters! The TV stand you order should be at least 6” wider
than the base of your Plasma. You don’t want to leave any
possibility that the TV will slide off the stand. And you sure
don’t want to make it easier for the kids to accidentally
knock it off!
•
Look for Wide Shelves and Storage Capacity. Your
new stand should feature plenty of space in it’s design.
Plan for ventilation
space around the TV, and storage or display space for all your
speakers, DVD player, cable box, VCR, amplifier and other video
equipment.
•
Assembly Will Be Required in
most cases. Follow assembly instructions as carefully as you can
(they can sometimes be very difficult to understand).
Construction may
require tools you don’t have or the aid of a friend; get
them. This stand may have to support a 160 lb. Plasma TV for the
next ten years; put it together the right way!

Guide
To Plasma TV
• Have
fun shopping for a TV stand with the style, color and materials to
match your decor and sense of style. Find the correct size,
features and weight capacity to meet your needs, and to make that
new Plasma TV stand out even more.
• Get the whole family involved in picking out the right
stand. You can even let the kids help you put it together (under
supervision, of course!). Then plant that Plasma on top of your new
TV stand so that everyone can enjoy it!
