My
love affair with movies began in a little, darkened movie theater
in Phoebus, Virginia before many of you were born. I was eight
years old, and my Mom finally allowed me to go to the movies (she
hated films, real entertainment only came from books!)

Somehow
Mom bought me a book of summer discount movie tickets. I sat in the
theater as the lights went down and “The Crimson
Pirate” flickered onto the screen. Burt Lancaster flashed a
toothy grin and swung by a rope off the mast of a pirate ship and I
was hooked for the rest of my life!
